Jonathan Lawrence Sullivan appeared for sentencing last Tuesday in the Tenth Judicial District Court. He was facing a charge of Offer, Attempt, or Commission of an Unauthorized Act Relating to the Manufacture or Compounding of Certain Controlled Substances; a Category C Felony punishable by 1-5 years in prison and Possession of a Controlled Substance, a First Offense; a Category B Felony punishable 1-4 years in prison. CCPD Jacob Sommer, counsel for Sullivan, stated that his client did offer to sell methamphetamine to another individual and knowingly possessed methamphetamine.

ADA Jeffery Weed representing the State stated “There needs to a message sent to this community that say ‘drugs to not pay.’” There is a choice not disseminate drugs into the community. Additionally, Sullivan has an extensive criminal history that includes three felonies and 15 misdemeanors.

CCPD Jacob Sommer, defense counsel for Sullivan, argued for a suspended sentence. “Jonathan has demonstrated an understanding that his behavior was inappropriate in the context of these two charges,” said Sommer. “He has started to make changes in his life; he is currently working, been cooperative with Court Services, has scheduled counseling appointments, and is making religious and social connections within the community.” Sommer also believes that his client has begun to make meaningful changes and asked for probation with the requirement that he complete the Western Regional Drug Court program as a condition of probation, giving him the chance to prove that he is taking this seriously.

Sullivan received probation on a suspended sentence of 24-60 months with a $5,000 fine on the first count and a suspended sentence of 19-48 months on count two, with the terms to run consecutively.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
