The Churchill County School District welcomed back its returning teachers and greeted its new teachers with a staff cookout and field day on Thursday, as part of its collaboration and preparation for the beginning of the school year starting Monday.
Thursday’s event included a barbecue, a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses, and activities including ax throwing, painting, cornhole, and music.
The district organized the event to celebrate teachers as they go back to school after one of the most challenging years they have all faced as teachers.
“The goal for this week has been to come back from what we hope has been a renewing summer, continue on the amazing work we have been doing to advance our strategic themes, and closeout our prep time by building stronger relationships with one another,” Stephens said.
The superintendent said the district is fortunate to have a great incoming group of new teachers.
“We are thrilled with this year's incoming staff and grateful, in such a difficult climate and time in our world, that they have all chosen our district,” she said. “Many other districts have struggled to staff their buildings, but we have done great this year in recruiting awesome individuals to come be part of ChurchillCSD.”
