An Update on the Transfer Station

Temporary Disposal Site on North Maine
An Update on the Transfer Station

Author: Ty O'Neil

Due to the recent fire at the Transfer Station located on Enterprise Way off Indian Lakes Road behind Rattlesnake Hill, a temporary waste disposal location has been set up at 327 North Maine and will remain open seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

According to Brian Byrd, Public Works director, anyone needing assistance with unloading their garbage can let the gate attendant know, and the city crew will be more than happy to assist. Heavy items can be brought to the site and the staff there will assist in getting that straight into the loaders.

Household waste and small remodel waste should be bagged if possible, and those can be thrown into the waste bins. “If it is not, let the gate attendants know and we will do the off-loading,” said Byrd.

Any landfill users who already have an account at the landfill south of town should use that facility, and if anyone needs to open a landfill account, they are encouraged to make a request and complete that paperwork at the 327 North Maine location with the staff there.

Byrd said if someone has a huge load of garbage, they can take it to the temporary location to process the payment and then take it out to the landfill.

The structural analysis on the Transfer Station has been completed, according to Byrd, and the building manufacturer is due on-site for a review as well. “It’s not looking like we’ll have to tear the whole thing down,” he said, which will expedite the process. Within the next few weeks, public works staff should have some idea of how long it will be to make repairs and re-open the facility.

For the most part, the temporary facility has been a successful short-term solution, said Byrd. “We can accommodate just about anybody.”

People are saying he is not the same man, this proves he is, he would have been open and honest if he wasn’t the same man. He judged others for their past, but wants to hide his. He knew he was ineligible to be a cop, he still ran. He DOES NOT HAVE 20 years of public safety experience. He has less than 2 years as a cop almost 20 years ago and then never worked in public safety again. Cal Trans is not public safety. The people that voted for him are too blind to see that he can’t be a cop, it doesn’t matter the man he is now, the laws are very clear.Comment publication date: 4/4/25, 2:31 AMComment source: Nevada Supreme Court Orders Removal of Esmeralda County Sheriff Nick DonderoComment author: BDHComment text: Did he while serving have a firearm on him after this conviction and was he prohibited from carrying one?Comment publication date: 4/2/25, 3:32 PMComment source: Nevada Supreme Court Orders Removal of Esmeralda County Sheriff Nick DonderoComment author: Ryan from EsmeraldaComment text: Great story.
