Angry Dave's at The Overland Hotel

Angry Dave's at The Overland Hotel
by Rachel Dahl -- Dave Greeley said he couldn’t get a good steak in Fallon so he decided to open a restaurant and solve that problem. Three nights a week, Thursday through Saturday, Angry Dave’s at The Overland Hotel serves ribeye steak, skirt steak, and burgers along with several choices of sides including fries, ranch beans, and mashed potatoes, and of course the famous Golden West Lemonade. Greeley first moved to Fallon in 1993 where he has raised two daughters and a step-daughter. A renaissance man, he also owns a gun shop – Silver Sage Firearms, and three years ago started his lemonade stand, Golden West Lemonade. He started the lemonade stand going around to farmer’s markets where it really started to grow and expand into bigger festivals. He wanted to figure out how to move it to some kind of higher evolution, so with that and the steak idea, Greeley started Angry Dave’s. Looking around Fallon, he realized that the restaurant space at the Overland Hotel was the only real place available that would work for what he had in mind. After cleaning up 50-plus years of dust and grime from the restaurant space on the west side of the historic Overland building, Greeley opened to serve his steaks and has been growing ever since. “Dave Barkley has been exceedingly accommodating and generous,” said Greeley. “He gave me the keys to the kingdom and told me to go ahead and figure out how to make it work.  Whenever I’ve asked him if we can do something, its whatever I need to make things work.” Greeley said Barkley is a great guy. Greeley also said the health inspector was just in for an inspection and Angry Dave’s received a 100% rating.  He said there is only one other place in town has that rating. The restaurant is open from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, and according to Greeley and his staff, they recommend reservations on Friday night.  “Fridays have gotten so busy that we’ve started taking reservations so we can make sure to give the best possible service and the freshest food,” said Greeley. According to Greeley, at Angry Dave’s and the Overland Hotel, you can get the authentic western experience. “I always thought it was weird that in the livestock capital of Nevada you couldn’t get a good steak,” he said, “and they’re so simple to cook. We do the best steaks in town and we make burgers and people dig them and they keep coming back.” Sign up here to receive our weekly newsletter and never miss the local news. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking. I am Kelly’s sister, Charlene B Johnson and his daughter is Trisha Benjamin. The Fallon Tribal Police acted unconscionably by not notifying the family first. This is devastating for us especially after speaking a little bit with the officer handling the report and The Chief Juarez. Who refused to give me any further details or to at least let me know the FBI was notified and that they were investigating if my brothers death was foul play or not. My understanding is the FBI is called when a body is found. Tribal Chairwoman please do the family a solid and make sure the finding of my brother was due to suspicious circumstances.Comment publication date: 3/24/26, 1:55 PMComment source: Fallon Paiute-Shoshone Tribe Reports Death Under InvestigationComment author: Nicole GalbraithComment text: Farren - I just saw that you aren’t here with us. I am completely in shock! I met you and hung out with you so many years ago with Jer, and Eden. I honestly can’t believe you are gone…..you were a wonderful human being, with a HUGE heart and soul. Hearing this makes my heart break! You are forever in our hearts, and I can say I feel blessed that I was able to know you!
