The Fallon City Council met Monday, May 3. Business was conducted as usual – with Councilman James Richardson not in attendance. Police Chief Kevin Gehman presented the March Police Department report showing they had received 750 calls, up from 613 in February. The Crime Summary showed four domestic batteries, 12 larcenies, and one burglary; the Arrest Summary included four felonies or gross misdemeanors, 20 misdemeanors, four DUIs, four Juvenile misdemeanors, and three domestic violence arrests. The Chief also presented comments from the March Citizen Surveys, including one from a man who wrote, “A 'retired speeder' sent a thank-you note to Officer Zamora for the warning.”
The last agenda items were the council and staff reports, where Mayor Tedford discussed the Mayor's Youth Fund Charity Golf Tournament scheduled for Saturday, May 8, with tee times starting at 8 a.m. at the Fallon Golf Course. No other reports were given by staff or council members and there were no public comments.
Following that, the City Council can hold closed executive sessions regarding City litigation matters, negotiations with Operating Engineers Local Union No. 3, and negotiations with Fallon Peace Officers Association.
Additionally, a special City Council meeting was scheduled for Friday, May 7 at 9 a.m. in the Council Chambers concerning a complaint and request by the City Attorney to initiate proceedings to suspend or revoke the liquor license for Leah’s Bar located at 165 S. Maine Street. The date and time for the actual suspension/revocation hearing will be set at that time.
