Earthquakes are something that Nevadans have to live with daily whether we feel them or not. Students at CCHS learned about earthquakes and their effects on a structure in Mr Sluyter's Earth and Space Science class.  They were required to research specific features of buildings designed to survive an earthquake and then incorporate them into their designs.  The pictures provided show the various structures designed by the students that lasted on the earthquake table for one minute or more. Oscar Ventura and Colton Tousignant had the tallest tower which withstood the shake thanks to their use of guy wires (Bottom right and left). Submitted by Susan McGowan.

First Graders ponder about Punxsutawney Phil and his shadow in Ms. Keisel’s class (Top left and right). Submitted by Lahontan Elementary School.
