Once per week or so, Fallon’s faith leaders offer their thoughts on faith and life. Any church or faith community of any kind is welcome and encouraged to participate. If you have ideas for topics we should write about, or if you or your pastor or faith leader would like to participate, please call Pastor Dawn Blundell at Epworth UMC, 775-423-4714.

If you’d like to talk more about anything you read here, or if you would like prayer or a listening ear, we hope you will reach out to one of us. If you don’t already have a church home, you are invited to join us for worship, too! You’ll find contact information and worship times below.

This month, we are focusing on hope and where we find it. We would love your feedback! Where do you find hope? What does your own faith or religious tradition tell you about where to look for it?

I hope and pray that God would bring many to salvation through the proclamation of the good news of Christ's death on behalf of sinners. I hope and pray that God would convict people of their sin, that he would open their eyes to their dire need for Christ, and that they would place their faith in him alone for salvation. I hope and pray that God would purify the church to display the glories of his grace and mercy through the church. I hope and pray that Christians all over the world would grow in our resolve to preach, “…Christ and him crucified” (1 Cor 2:2)

Dawn Blundell, Epworth United Methodist Church

Oh, the list is LONG. I hope that we get a handle on Covid and can eat, talk, sing, hug, and worship together again safely. I hope that we learn to put away our electronics and our opinions more often and really see and hear and understand each other. I hope that we are so glad to be out that our local businesses thrive! I hope we take some real, substantive steps to make life better for people who can’t afford food, or medicine, or a safe place to live. I dearly hope that we all learn to recognize and accept what is true and reject what isn’t. And above all, I hope that Christian people grow to be the Light God calls us to be: Christ-centered and Jesus-led sources of real hope, love, and joy.

Who and what they REALLY were. Because they were devotional and IMPORTANT to the humans they connected with. The content of their life bled so that others could feel their own life’s importance. Teachers of justifiable life and art. That all can absorb and use as the best fertilizer for THEIR lives. Giving the silent secrets and the loud guidance. The Melon Man was a perfect specimen for how to devote. His passing meant a life book of feeling/knowing what gives other humans their paths to Love and Knowledge. Some humans are meant to show others their paths. And in that they secrete ways to profitably exist.Comment publication date: 3/18/26, 4:50 PMComment source: In memorium -- The Melon Man
