Latest County Information Regarding COVID

Testing data and vaccination information

County Manager Jim Barbee reported the latest COVID testing data to the County Commissioners at their meeting on Monday. Since March, the county has had 1,458 positive cases of COVID-19. There are currently 165 positive cases, with 11 people hospitalized, and 1,254 people who have recovered. There have been 39 deaths attributed to COVID. A total of 17,516 tests for COVID have been administered in the community since March.

Barbee explained to newly elected commissioners, Justin Heath and Greg Koenig, that there is a meeting of the COVID response team held every Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. and then a general staff meeting at 11:00 a.m. Barbee will get a schedule set up for each of three commissioners, including Chairman Pete Olsen to attend those meetings on a rotating basis to keep them all updated.

Additionally, in reporting the latest developments regarding the administering of the COVID vaccine, Barbee said that Governor Sisolak had moved those who are 75 years old and older into the Tier two schedule for receiving the vaccine.

Walgreens and CVS pharmacies will be a primary outlet for the vaccination of those who are 75 years old and older. When more information becomes available on the implementation of that program, county staff will make it available to the community.

The county is also working with the school district to plan for the vaccination of district employees through the community testing site at the fairgrounds and that plan will be released once it is in place.

If there has been 1,258 positive cases of COVID, and 1,254 people have recovered, how do the remain four individuals constitute thirty-nine deaths? Thanks for catching that, Dave. I hit the wrong key -- corrected to 1,458. That math should work.
