Daniel Edward Clifford, age 64, moved on to Eternal Life with his Savior in the early morning hours of December 9th, 2020.
Danny was a native Nevadan, a lifelong resident of Fallon, and very proud of his family’s history within the Silver State, which dates back to the 1800’s. He held the land very close to him, and memories abounded in the mountains and valleys of Nevada, where he learned to fish, hunt, and enjoy all that Nevada had to offer. The community of Fallon meant much to him, as well, and he was always grateful for the support given to he and his family through the years.
Danny considered himself a man of simple tastes. He wasn’t much for flashy clothing and never did see any issue with wearing white socks and sandals together, much to the chagrin of his family. He loved sports and considered winning the state championship in baseball in 1974 to be one of his fondest memories. He worked hard to get that championship team into the Greenwave Hall of Fame and was rewarded with an induction in 2019. He loved the San Francisco Giants, Golden State Warriors, and Green Bay Packers and was never shy in showing his loyalties.
Hunting and fishing trips were cherished by Danny and sharing those memories with his friends and family were his joy. His German Shorthaired pointers were his pride, and if you have driven down the Lovelock Highway in the past 15 years, there’s a good chance you have seen them getting their nightly exercise.
While Danny considered himself a humble plumber, he was truly a craftsman with his work. He took pride in making things perfect and could not stand shabby work. A 27-year employee of the various defense contractors at NAS Fallon, Danny built many friendships through the years and truly enjoyed what he did.
Known to those closest to him, Danny often considered himself a grumpy introvert who often said, “I either like you, or I don’t.” While it can’t be argued that he was honest and not afraid to tell you what was on his mind, those he knew him tell a much different story about his kindness, compassion, respectfulness, and the level of peace and comfort he brought with his presence. He cast a net far wider than he had ever comprehended.
More than anything above, Danny was a God-Fearing family man. A faithful husband to Debra for 36 years, and a loving father to Eric, Brian, and Sheila. He instilled lifelong lessons of love and caring to his family and has given an example that will last a lifetime. His affinity for cheap red wine will be carried on and a bottle will never be opened without a thought of him. For all the love he gave, those closest knew he lost a piece of his heart 21 years ago, when his son Brian went to be with the Lord. While the pain of losing Danny is great, his family rests in the comfort of knowing he is with his Savior in Heaven and now resting with Brian in Eternity.
Danny was predeceased in death by his father, Reynold, and mother, Mary, brother Michael, mother-in-law, Glenda, niece, Korah, and son Brian.
He is survived by his wife, Debra, son, Eric and his wife Heather, daughter, Sheila, sister, Susan Clifford-Copeland, In-laws Mark and Ruby Lee, brother-in-law Glenn and his wife Elsie and family, and many other family members.
Danny will be missed greatly.
Graveside services will be held at the Fallon Cemetery on December 15th at 1 PM. The family asks that you abide by all social distancing and safety protocols, and as Danny said himself, please wear a mask. If you are sick, please use respectful discretion, as there will be a time for you to pay your respects. A Celebration of Life will be held in the coming year and we look forward to gathering and celebrating a wonderful man with all of those he touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Cowboy’s Rest Christian Camp and Retreat Center - 435 Jiggs Hwy Unit 4 Spring Creek, NV 89815 and/or www.cowboysrest.org.
Arrangements are with Smith Family Funeral Home in Fallon. 775-423-2255.
