Both Churchill County and the Churchill County School District reported the latest COVID numbers for the community yesterday.
Churchill County officials say there are currently 57 active cases in the community, and no one is hospitalized. There has been a total of 9,896 tests administered with a total of 254 positive COVID cases since March. Four people have died with COVID, and 193 have recovered. There have been 49 people test positive who are asymptomatic.
The Churchill County School District reported yesterday that there are five active positive cases among their student population, with four high school students testing positive and one middle school student positive. These students all attend classes in person.
All students and staff identified as primary exposures through contact tracing have been or will be contacted by school officials.
The district reminds the community, “Please continue to be diligent about the use of face coverings, physical distancing, good hygiene, and following the guidelines provided by the state. The district will stay diligent to ensure when, if necessary, the classrooms, building, or district may need to move into fully remote learning.”
The news release stated that at this time, the district will remain open as is.
Staff from Oasis Academy reported to the County Health Board at the monthly meeting last week that thus far, their student body has only experienced one positive case.
