Music - Honeyboys
A small town California based band, the Honeyboys, released a new single: “Maple Blue.”
The band was formed during their time at CalPoly, and this group has music similar to that of other alternative groups like Passion Pit, or Jacob Collier.
There is a clear inspiration from those and other artists in the similar genre. A song that conjures up images of coffee shops and brisk fall walks, this new single is good for any upcoming occasion as fall starts to slowly settle in.
The use of a slightly punk guitar and smooth harmonies, this song can be attractive to audiences of many other genres as well.
The beginning of the song starts with a jazzy piano and light drums; however, my favorite part of the new track is the conversation between the bass guitar and drums throughout the rest of the song. A slight funk sound that lays behind the peppy vocals and small additions of piano makes the song light for a fall evening.
