November at the Library

November at the Library

There are programming changes this month due to the holidays. There will be no story time on November 8 and 9. The library will be closed November 10-11 and 23-25 to observe Veterans Day and the Thanksgiving holidays. All after-school programs will be suspended from November 20-22.
 

Special Events      

  • Learn-to-fly-a-drone workshop - November 1 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
  • Family Board Game Night - November 1, from 4:30 p.m. to 7. 
  • National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo - Wednesdays at 3 p.m. in November
  • What’s Cooking? - November 7 at 6 p.m. with Museum Director Mel Glover, who will have some exciting kitchen objects from the collection to discuss. 
  • 3D Printing Workshop – Drop in November 8 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Use the library’s 3D printer and learn more about this popular technology. 
  • Senator Rosen office representative offers “Office Hours - November 9 at 1 p.m. Stop by, share your concerns.
  • Reading with Rover - November 9 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. 
  • Stop Motion Animation workshop - November 15 at 3:30 p.m. 
  • EmployNV. Need a career change? Let them help you find a new opportunity - November 16 from 2 to 4 p.m. 
  • Elementary Book Club in the Library Annex building - November 17 at 3 p.m. for elementary school students. November’s book is “Dead
  • Wednesday” and can be reserved at bit.ly/CCLElementaryBookClub.  
  • Adult Book Discussion Group November 30 at 6 p.m. This month is “cozy reads,” bring your favorite. 
     

Ongoing Programs

  • “1,000 Books Before Kindergarten” encourages youngsters to read age-appropriate books school. Recognition is given for every 100 books read on the way to 1,000. Sign-ups are accepted at any time at bit.ly/CCL1000BBK. 

Tuesdays: 

  • The Knitting Club - November 7, 21, and 28 1at 0 a.m. Novice and advanced knitters welcome. 
  • Virtual Reality drop-in sessions November 7, 14 and 28 from 3:15 to 5 p.m. on. All ages are welcome.

Wednesdays: 

  • In-person children’s story time - Wednesdays at 11 a.m., except for November 8, and features the same content each week, presented by Children’s Librarian Miss J, who reads picture books to children and offers a craft to accompany most stories. Geared to children ages 3-5, but all kids are welcome.

Thursdays

  • Children’s story time - November 2, 16, and 30 at 10 and 11 a.m. on. The Knitting Club meets again at 3 p.m. except November 23

Fridays

STEAM sessions with VR - November 2 and 17 at 1:30 p.m.

Have a problem with your computer or smartphone? Head over to the William N. Pennington Life Center on Fridays (except for November 10 and 24) from 10 to 11 a.m. and get answers from Technical Services Librarian Joe Salsman, an expert in all things technology.

Hours of operation - Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed on Sundays and major holidays.
