Mae Haden scholarship recipients

Mae Haden scholarship recipients
Staff report -- The Mae Haden scholarship that is given in honor by the Banner Churchill Community Hospital Auxiliary was recently awarded to three graduating seniors at Churchill County High School. Taylor Ingram will study dermatology, Seidi Lopez plans to study nursing, and Madison Bleu is focused on biochemistry. All three girls are heading to the University of Nevada, and hope to work in Nevada when they complete their studies. Mae Haden was an active member in the Auxiliary beginning in 2002.  She served as Membership Chair and remained active till her passing on May 1st 2016.  Because of her dedication to both education and the Auxiliary, members of the Auxiliary felt that it was fitting the new High School Scholarship for students interested in the medical field be named in her honor. Mae began teaching 4th grade to severely handicapped students at West End School in 1974 where she worked through 1988. She then transferred to EC Best where she taught 6th grade students with disabilities until 1996.  When Numa Elementary opened she transferred there and taught 3rd grade until her retirement in 2002. Members of the community who knew and cared for Mae who would like to contribute to this ongoing scholarship, may make donations care of:  BCCH Auxiliary Mae Haden Scholarship.  PO Box 1707, Fallon, NV 89407. All three girls expressed their gratitude for the scholarship awards and wished to thank their families for all the support.   Sign up to receive updates and the Friday File email notices.
