Fallon Youth Baseball Concluded Last Weekend 

The Fallon Youth baseball championships were held this past weekend. The results were: 

Majors: Pirates vs A's, winner Pirates  

Minor: Pirates vs Angels, winner Pirates. 

Rookies: Rays vs Nationals, winner Rays. 

Racing in Fallon This Weekend 

Both race facilities will be in full swing this weekend as Rattlesnake Raceway has races on Friday and Saturday. Friday features Circle Track races, timed tough trucks, trailer races, and car soccer. Saturday has circle track races, contact tough trucks, demolition derby, and kids power wheels demolition derby. The gates open at 7 p.m. on Friday and 6 p.m. on Saturday.  

Meanwhile, Top Gun Dragstrip has a full weekend of NHRA National Open Races. Gates will open Thursday at noon, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 7 a.m. Friday is Test and Tune and Saturday features NHRA cars, JDRL, Summit ET series points Race #5, and more.  

Sand Mountain Access Closed for Maintenance 

The access road into Sand Mountain Recreation Area 28 miles east of Fallon will be closed for three days for sealing on June 6, 7, and 8, and one day on June 13 for striping the pavement. “Sealing is needed in order to maintain this highly used road,” said John Mitchell, acting Sierra Front Field manager. “We planned this during times it would have the least impact on visitors and recreation users.” For information on this popular recreation site go to https://ohv.nv.gov/trails/sand-mountain-recreation-area or call 775-885-6015. 

Reno Aces Complete Road Trip, Home This Week 

The Aces finished a road trip last Sunday in Oklahoma City. After tying the game in the top of the eighth, the Reno Aces (32-25) surrendered four runs in the bottom of the frame in a 7-3 loss to the Oklahoma City Dodgers (41-16) Sunday afternoon at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The Aces held the first lead again in the series finale on an RBI base hit from Dominic Fletcher in the third. Yairo Muñoz scored on a single and went 3-for-4 with a double. Fletcher had three knocks including a leadoff double in the game-tying eighth, contributing to 14 Aces hits in the game. Bryce Jarvis dueled with Oklahoma City starter Matt Andriese throughout the afternoon. Jarvis struck out eight over 5 2/3 strong innings, with the lone blemishes a two-run double and a solo homer. Jarvis has struck out 40 batters over his last seven starts. Carson Kelly had two more hits out of the two-hole and is four for his last eight with two walks. Alek Thomas drove in two runs on two hits, both coming in the final two innings. Thomas recorded eight hits in the series while driving in seven runs. Oklahoma City secured the series win and holds a nine-game lead over Reno in the PCL standings. The Aces returned to Greater Nevada Field earlier this week on Tuesday, June 6. In a six-game series, they will face the Tacoma Rainiers, the Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners.
