15 Days of Fun - Rafter 3C Summer Gathering 

The 3C Event Complex will be jam-packed this month with 15 days of solid events billed as The 3C Summer Gathering, bringing out-of-town contestants to fill hotel rooms, restaurants, and shop in local businesses. 

Beginning with the Moving Forward Together Powwow the weekend of June 2 through 4 and going on through June 24 with the de Golyer Bucking Horse and Bull Bash, the community will be treated to performances nearly every day. 

Jim Barbee, county manager, said at a recent county commission meeting that community members and local businesses should expect extra traffic during June, with events bringing anywhere from 400 to 500 contestants to the community each day. "It would be a good idea for businesses to be prepared," he said, making sure stores and restaurants are stocked up with necessary supplies.

The Moving Forward Together Powwow is free and open to all community members of any background. There will be food, dance specials, vendors, free workshops, a drum contest, and educational resources for everyone to enjoy. 

During the Battle Born Broncs event on June 13-14, there will be a special youth camp on June 13 taught by a world-class lineup of National Finals Rodeo superstars where local youth can learn about bareback, saddle bronc, and bull riding. 

On June 15 and 16, Lita Scott will host the Chasing Aces Races, a barrel racing extravaganza with over $10,000 in prizes. 

Tickets for the de Golyer Bucking Horse and Bull Bash on June 23 and 24 are available at Big R stores in Fallon, Fernley, and Sparks, along with Abe's Hay N' Feed in Fallon. VIP tables are available online through rodeoticket.com. The Kickoff Concert on Friday night, June 23 will feature opening act Steven Christie and The Washouts, opening band White Water Retooled, and headliner '90s country legend Doug Stone with tickets costing $25. The rodeo tickets cost $10 each for pre-purchase and will feature mutton busting, calf riding, steer riding, bronc riding, breakaway, barrel racing, team roping, and bull riding. There will also be a free kids' zone with a mechanical bull, a calf scramble, and trick riders. Plan to keep an eye out during June for fun family events at the Rafter 3C.
