May 6 Artist Talks and Reception at Arts Council

On Saturday, May 6, the Churchill Arts Council will host an artist talk and reception for Emily Najera and Michelle Laxalt.

Laxalt, formerly of Reno, will be exhibiting “The Soft Animal of Your Body,” which consists of ceramic sculpture and works on paper. Laxalt, who finished graduate school at Georgia West State University, resides in Atlanta.

Emily Najera is a visual storyteller based in Reno. Her research as a photographer examines forms of architecture as vernacular artifacts. Partnering with historic preservationists and urban planners, Emily documents and archives the changing landscape of city neighborhoods.

The artists’ talks begin at 5:30 p.m., with exhibitions on display in the E. L. Wiegand & Kirk Robertson Galleries through June 17. These exhibitions are also available for private viewing by calling 775-423-1440 or emailing [email protected]. For more information, visit www.churchillarts.org.
