Spring Break
Maliah's Minute

I was hoping Spring Break would be a stress-free, relaxing, and fun spring break- and it was. I planned to hang out with friends and do a big spring clean. This year, break came just at the right time, just after some intense dance planning, which we called the Spring Fling.

Decorating was the most stressful part. Everything needed to look great, and we wanted everyone to like it. I was scared we might hear negative things about the dance, but all I heard were positive things, and everyone seemed to have a good time. Whew!

This dance was a bit different. We had kids donate one pencil to get in. We are then donating the pencils back to classrooms for the end-of-the-year testing. What a great idea, right? You can’t have enough pencils at test time.

The dance planning may have been stressful, but it was worth it. I had so much fun with all my friends. I enjoyed it ten times more than the last dance – which was fun too. Overall, it was terrific. What a great way to launch into spring break.

This was my first spring break with real friends I wanted to hang out with. Last year I wasn’t close with the people like I am with right now, so I didn’t really have as much fun. Instead, I went to my great-grandma’s. Don’t get me wrong, I love my great-grandma, but spending a whole week in Ely while it snows 24/7 is not my ideal spring break. Over the past two years, my friendships have really changed. I see how amazing my true friends are now, and I really appreciate them all. I don’t know if I express it enough, but because of them, I had a great spring break.

Enough of the spring break talk. As much as I love spring and April (mostly because of my birthday), soon it will be summer. So, the sooner spring ends, the better.
