Book Report - Carol Recommends

Food IQ: 100 Questions, Answers, and Recipes to Raise Your Cooking Smarts by Daniel Holzman & Matt Rodbard
Book Report - Carol Recommends

This book consists of a bunch of questions and answers to those questions. Sort of a narrative and then sometimes a Q&A with a celebrity Friend of Food IQ; Ina Garten, Jose R. Ralat, illustrations, photographs, and maybe a related recipe.

Things like “What is Kobe beef, and is it really better?” and “What’s the difference between hot smoking and cold smoking?”

Frankly, I’d never heard of cold smoking and now I know it’s smoking at a low temperature to flavor and preserve food without cooking. Fun fact for me. Included is how to make the perfect cup of coffee and how to cook tasty liver, heart, and beef tongue. And how to make homemade hummus.

I don’t see this title being used as a cookbook or a reference book but rather for browsing. Chances are you’ll hit on something interesting and you might want to try a recipe or two. This one is fun and entertaining.

This title is available in print at the Library and downloadable ebook through Overdrive/Libby.
